Latest Water Project News from the Community of Agua Santa

In July and August 2012, the men and women of the community have worked together to dig trenches and install the water pipes to distribute the water from the large holding tank through three large pipes into the main community area. In total the community dug trenches and placed three kilometers of pipe. The work is shared by all members of the community, young and old, by rotation in work parties, called "mingas". The Ecuadorian Army also assisted in this project! According to Patricio the community is excited and pleased in anticipation of the delivery of more water to their homes and food plots. The final stage will be the installation of a water delivery system to each home. This system will further enhance the ability of each family to have enough water to insure the growth of their gardens and to bring new life to small fruit trees and other species needed in the reforestation process of the entire area. This third and last stage of the project has already been funded by a generous donation from the Berlin Tian Gong Institute through Living Bridges Foundation.
